BODHRAN CONDITIONING CREAM

!
This bodhran conditioning cream is made by Walton's Music of Dublin Ireland. Regular applications of Walton's Bodhran Conditioning Cream will help preserve your bodhran's skin, keeping it supple and improving the tension. In caring for your bodhran it is essential to keep the skin moist. Special oils in this cream help with the absorption of moisture, thereby maintaining better skin balance, tone and also reducing the chances of punctures or tearing.

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS: Pour about a cup of water into your bodhran. Swirl the water around and dump out. Squirt cream onto the center (inside) of your bodhran. Using your bare hand, rub cream in circles, working it into the skin. Add more cream as needed to the the entire inside of the drum hide it treated. Also, do the outside rim. Where the hide is stretched over the wood as you can't treat that area from the inside of the drum.

SLACK TIME: Your bodhran hide will go slack for afew hours as it absorbs the moisture from the water. This is natural. Just let it set and give it a few hours to start to tighten back up.

SPRAY BOTTLE FOR WATER: You'll need to get a small spray bottle for water. All bodhran players have them. You'll want to spray or mist some water on the inside of your bodhran from time to time while playing to get the proper tone. When you spray or mist the inside of your bodhran, it will bring the conditioning cream back to life. Just give it a quick rub and you are ready to play.

WHEN TO RETREAT YOUR BODHRAN: You bodhran will tell you (believe it or not!) when it needs more cream. When you spray or mist water onto the back of your bodhran and don't feel the cream come back to life, it is time to retreat your drum.

If you have any questions on the the use of this cream or proper care for your bodhran, please give us a call!

BEATERS A-D

!

This is a great selection of beaters. These beaters are made of hard woods, are well balanced and offer great sounds.

A is one of my top all around tippers

B is a nice heavy well rounded beater. May be a little too much for a beginner

"C" is a big heavy beater and not suggested for a beginner. This beater held lightly can bring in thunderous sounds and fly accross the drum

Beater "D" is too long for most bodhran players, yet it is very popular for drumming circles and native drumming when purchases in pairs.

made for MacRury Music and imported from Ireland.

BEATERS E-I

!

These beaters/tippers are made of hard woods, are well balanced and manufactured for MacRury Music.

E for those that prefer an "inny" to an "outy" for gripping, this is a nice beater

Beater "F" has both a center and off center grip rise for playing Kerry and Limerick styles.

G is well balanced with nicely rounded end. Good for any player, beginner to pro.

Beater "H" is totally the "cat's meaw!" This light tipper flys across the bodhran, making triples and rim hits very easy.

Beater "I" There is more to all of this fancy wood turning than just looks! The detailed groves allow you to grip center for Kerry style or off center for Limerick. It is easy to get great rim hits and triples as well.

BEATERS J-M

!

J is more oblong on the end than G, great for rim hits and triples

K is a nice well balanced two tone tipper

L has a nice center grip making triples and rim hits easy

M is comfortable and notched in the middle for easy gripping

BEATERS N - S

!

N is well balance and notched in the center. Good beginner tipper

O is rounded on one end and the oblong end is squared off on the other. This is a great beater for drumming circles. Not recommended for the beginner bodhran player.

P is double notched in center and well rounded on both ends. Good beginner beater

R is a great little tipper! Fast yet weighty. Not recommended for beginners working on triples

S basic no notch tipper. Good for players and drumming circles.
